Robert Frank

-Married to Mary Frank

-He immigrated to America in 1947 

​

-Photographer and documentary filmmaker

​

-Most famous for artwork "The Americans"

​

-The Americans was an artwork that showcased the way Frank saw America unlike the rest of society.

​

-Frank saw America as different. While, the rest of society saw it as America as one.

​

-Frank expressed love but, he showed America as a reality.

​

-He showed the unspoken, the racism, mass consumerism and  the division between rich and poor.

​

-He became a photographer as a way to escape the pressure of his business oriented family. Growing up in Europe during WWII as a jewish man made Frank see the world in a way others did not. He saw the bad in the world.

​

-He apprenticed for Hermann Segesser. He worked for Harper's  Bazaar, wrote the Americans and worked with the promotion department at the New York Times.
